1794 C-8 R-5 Liberty Cap Half Cent Coin 1/2c

Description

Moderately corroded under a glossy chocolate brown patina, t
he color is attractive but the surfaces are not. Fortunately the date and legends are complete and readable. No verdigris or contact marks. The edge lettering is blundered (tripled) with "DOLLAR" visible three times in succession indicating this planchet went through the Casting machine at least 3 times. All three impressions are oriented with the top of the letters on the obverse side of the planchet. An extremely rare error on a very rare die variety. Weight 105.4 grains.
