To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty in 1986, the United States Mint released two of the most popular coins, the Statue of Liberty Dollar and corresponding Half Dollar.This set consists of both coins are in uncirculated condition with the front side of the 1986 Statue of Liberty Dollar portrays Liberty in the foreground with the immigration center behind her, commemorating Ellis Island as the "Gateway to America." The front side of this 1986 Statue of Liberty Half Dollar features the United States' as a nation of immigrants as well as a picture a ship of immigrants steaming into the New York Harbor, greeted by the Statue of Liberty in the foreground, with the New York skyline in the distance. The reverse shows a scene of an immigrant family with their belongings on the threshold of America. This commemorative set is in the original United States Mint Packaging.
